Additionally, while the US may have the highest GDP we only rank #10 per capita so calling us the wealthiest nation is somewhat of a misnomer. And no, having any number of people below the poverty level is not a crime and neither is involuntary unemployment. Just being an American does not guarantee a person a well paying job and their own home stocked full of food.
