CALENDAR SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Please enter your calendar event information via the interface below. The deadline is 3pm Thursday prior to the Tuesday street publication date of the Dayton City Paper. DCP reserves the right to refuse publication of any calendar event listing for any reason.
Count your total characters before you begin
Most calendar listings are free. Some are paid. All calendar listings are scrutinized based on total number of characters. Please count accurately. The length of a printed line of text in the Calendar section is not only determined by text, punctuation and spaces also count as characters. Bold text (headline) yields a lower total number of characters per line than non-bold text. You can easily determine the total character count of your text by typing or pasting it into the appropriate fields below.
Headlines: Only headlines are bold at approx. 40 max characters (bold does not continue beyond first line).
Non-bold text lines: are approx. 50-55 maximum characters per non-bold line of text.
Submit your event at the right time
You can schedule your event to appear in a future week of the DCP calendar now if you wish. However, as events are published in chronological order, you are strongly encouraged not to schedule your events too far in the future. Please limit future calendar event listings to publish no later than 30 days from now. Though we may decide to publish future events further in advance than the current week, future events and ongoing non-profit free listings are subject to possibly being preempted due to space limitations. We publish your event text as submitted (we do not edit your submitted copy). Although we strive for perfection, the DCP is not responsible for free listing transcription inaccuracies.
Non-profit organizations may submit up to six lines of text or less (including headline) FREE for one calendar listing. Additional lines or separate additional calendar listings by the same organization are no longer free and are priced the same as business or individual paid calendar listings (see below). Organizations are welcome to publish “ongoing” events or activities that have no imminent end date. However, if your ongoing event ends and you fail to contact us to remove it from our calendar your organization risks losing its free calendar listing privilege. Proof of 501(c) tax exempt status required on request.
Businesses or individuals
Businesses and/or individuals must prepay by the above submission deadline and pay $2 per line (bold first line only and is free). There is no minimum number of lines.
QR code yellow highlighted box only $15
You will occasionally see calendar listings surrounded by a yellow boarder plus a square with geometric shapeswithin called a “QR code.” Once scanned by a mobile device, a QR code can launch a device’s browser and direct it to your website. We generate the QR code with your purchase. Your message is somewhat smaller to start where the top bold headline is 34 characters and where there are three additional 40 character lines of non-bold text thereafter. Additional paid lines of text are approx. 50 characters long at an additional $2 per line. Simply specify you wish a “QR code yellow highlight box” when you call to pay for your calendar listing.
How to pay:
Once you’ve submitted your event via our website online form and only if your listing requires payment, please call with credit card to guarantee placement (for your security we do not accept credit card information online or via email). Non-credit card payments accepted via US Mail (check / MO only) or walk-in. All payments are non-refundable and due upon submission. Questions? In addition to securely acquiring your payment information, we will review your event submission information with you over the phone to ensure you’re paying the lowest dollar amount necessary.
