Yellow Springs

Young’s Jersey Dairy, located at 6880 Springfield-Xenia Rd. in Yellow Springs, invites the public to join in celebrating the 1869 founding of the farm Hap Young purchased from relatives in 1946. There will be plenty of specials all weekend, Jan. 14-17 including a Souvenir Sundae, with 3 scoops and 3 toppings in a keepsake glass, for $3 and a variety of $1.42 specials at all their venues including the store, both restaurants and their putt-putt golf course Udders & Putters. The modest dairy store that opened in the 1950s as Hap Young & Sons has grown into the micro-empire of Young’s Jersey Dairy. Today, the Young family and more than 300 employees manage the working dairy and store, two restaurants, golf and batting cages, plus catering and event hosting throughout the year. But the product Young’s is most noted for is their ice cream: thick, creamy and fresh-churned on the premises. Details and Young’s history are at www.youngsdairy.com.
