The city gets beer geeky

What a week to be a craft beer drinker in Dayton! Through August 27, the city celebrates the second annual Dayton Beer Week with more than 50 separate and unique beer-centric events throughout the week. The celebration kicked off over the weekend with tastings on Friday, a golf scramble on Saturday and a Beer Pride Parade down the heart of the Oregon District Sunday afternoon. It culminates with the 13th Annual AleFest Dayton on Saturday, August 27 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Carillon Historical Park.
This year’s AleFest features an expanded beer list, adding more than 20 new breweries to the event (140 breweries total). With more than 350 beers, there’s something for everyone. Draft beer lovers will appreciate the more than 40 unique and interesting taps, including rarities from Dogfish Head, Lagunitas, Southern Tier, Stone, Bell’s, New Holland, Great Lakes and Goose Island. For cask beer lovers, check out the Heavy Seas Loose Cannon Dry Hopped IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout, Thirsty Dog Belgian Tripel with Cherries and the Druid Farmhouse Ale and Two Brothers Resistance Oaked IPA. And Randall the Enamel Animal returns, this year pumping Dogfish Head’s Festina Peche through blueberries and raspberries.

Tickets for AleFest Dayton are available online, at all of the local better beer establishments and at the gate ($35 in advance, $40 day of).
