The big lies never end

by Mark Luedtke

Since Sept. 11, 2012, when Muslims attacked the U.S. embassy in Cairo and the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, government officials and the press have blamed the attacks on some crappy YouTube movie that slanders the Prophet Muhammad and Muslims in general. There are so many Big Lies associated with this story, I don’t know if I have space to expose them all.

President Obama stated that terrorists used the movie as an excuse for attacking the consulate. Obama’s director of the National Counterterrorism Center claims that terrorists used protests as a cover for attacking the consulate. Both statements are lies. There were no protests outside the consulate during the attacks. An unnamed intelligence source told Fox News, “There was no protest and the attacks were not spontaneous,” the source said, adding the attack “was planned and had nothing to do with the movie.”

McClatchy News tells the story of a Libyan guard injured in the attack, “The guard, interviewed Thursday in the hospital where he is being treated for five shrapnel wounds in one leg and two bullet wounds in the other, said that the consulate area was quiet – ‘there wasn’t a single ant outside,’ he said – until about 9:35 p.m., when as many as 125 armed men descended on the compound from all directions.” McClatchy also talked to the landlord of the consulate compound, “Standing outside the fire-gutted compound, Mohammad al-Bishari denied the attack began as a protest against an amateurish U.S.-made video mocking the prophet Muhammad, founder of the Islamic faith. ‘They attacked right away,’ al-Bishari said.”

The Obama administration characterizes the attack as opportunistic, as if 125 al Qaeda operatives just happened to be playing kick-the-can outside the consulate, then opportunistically decided to attack. Fox News reports, “The source said the assault came with no warning at about 9:35 p.m. local time, and included fire from more than two locations. The assault included RPGs and mortar fire, the source said, and consisted of two waves.” That describes a planned assault.

The Obama administration even admits the Big Lie when the cameras are turned off. Officials told Fox News, “U.S. officials, in response to the claim that there was no demonstration at the time of the attack, told Fox News there was a small protest earlier in the day – but they did not dispute that there was no significant or sizeable demonstration at the time.”

This begs the question: why are Obama and his accomplice press promoting this Big Lie?

Obama and Hillary Clinton were warned 48 hours in advance of credible terrorist threats against U.S. facilities in the Middle East on the anniversary of 9/11, but they chose not to increase security. The Marines at the embassy in Cairo had no bullets in their guns. The Obama administration chose not to use standard security professionals and protocols in Benghazi, using local Libyan militia instead. A pro-al-Qaeda Libyan politician called the militia guards and asked them to stand down for an attack. When the protesters stormed the embassy in Cairo, they chanted, “Obama, Obama there are still a billion Osamas.” That’s hardly a protest over a movie. It’s a protest of Obama’s foreign policy of killing Muslims en masse.

It’s telling that the embassy in Cairo apologized for the movie before the protests started. Obama and Clinton laid the groundwork for misinforming the American people before the crisis even started.

Even the movie itself is a fraud. The movie doesn’t exist. There is only a fifteen-minute clip on YouTube. That clip has been around all summer, but it was dubbed in Arabic and promoted in Egypt right before 9/11. The maker of the movie used the fake name Sam Bacile and claimed to be an Israeli Jew. In fact he’s an Egyptian Coptic Christian named Nakoula Bassely Nakoula. He told the people he worked with he was making a movie about life in Egypt 2000 years ago, then he dubbed in different words attacking the Prophet Muhammad and Muslims. Now he’s in hiding. Some unknown agent provocateur orchestrated this clip, dubbed and timed it to provoke the Muslim street and provide cover for these attacks.

Another Big Lie is being told by Republicans who claim Obama has a foreign policy of appeasement. Nothing could be further from the truth. Obama is killing Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia that we know of. Republicans would have us believe killing family, friends and neighbors of Muslims en masse, including women and children, doesn’t bother them, but talking nice to them turns them into terrorists.

The U.S. and NATO put al-Qaeda into power in Libya. They are trying to put al-Qaeda into power in Syria. Our government is arming, funding and supporting al-Qaeda in some places, just like they did the Mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 1980s and, as a result, al-Qaeda turned around and attacked Americans like they did on Sept. 11, 2001. This is classic blowback. Our government doesn’t want to win the war on terror because our rulers profit from it, so it aids our enemies to extend the war. Aiding an enemy is treason. We’ve been so misled, we cheer the government on as it creates and aids our deadliest enemies.
