Flashbulb Fires

Rock Critic’s Pick

By Kyle Melton

Recently named Best Indie Pop Band in Denver’s Westward Music Showcase, Flashbulb Fires will make a stop next week at South Park Tavern in Dayton. With a unique chamber pop flavor, this quartet employs a wide variety of instrumentation on their most recent album, Glory. Taking cues from contemporaries such as Grizzly Bear, Beirut, and Sufjan Stevens, Flashbulb Fires craft ethereal pop symphonies that provide engaging beds for vocalist Patrick McGuire’s emotive tales of personal turmoil and the quest for understanding. With Glory earning accolades throughout the country, Flashbulb Fires seem poised to emerge as one 2010’s indie breakthroughs. Flashbulb Fires will appear as part of The Buddha Den NTRO/XPO on Tuesday, October 19 at South Park Tavern, 1301 Wayne Ave. Also performing will be R.C.I. Admission is free and open to all ages. Doors open at 9 p.m. For more information, visit online at www.flashbulbfires.com
