Get the facts straight

Hi Mark [Luedtke],
I am writing in regard to your column in the Debate Forum section of the Dayton City Paper regarding high-speed rail, specifically your comment that “Nothing is stopping George Soros, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates from putting together a high-speed rail company risking their own money…” Perhaps you were not aware that Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway announced that it would acquire the remaining 77.4% of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway that it didn’t already own for $100 per share in cash and stock – a deal valued at $44 billion? The company is investing an estimated $34 billion in Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and acquiring $10 billion in debt. I think it’s important to get the facts right, whether the column is OpEd or not.
