Ice skating has returned to downtown Dayton. RiverScape MetroPark is officially opening the new outdoor skating rink to the public on Friday, November 26, just in time for the holiday season. The new rink is located under the covered pavilion at the new Phase III area. It’s about 50% bigger than the old ice rink and boasts more available skate rentals and a longer skating season, extending to March 13, 2011. Also available to ice rink patrons is Skyline at the Hub, which will be serving favorites like coneys and seasonal specialties, such as hot chocolate. Hours for this special opening weekend will be: Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (30 minute break 6:30-7:00 p.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 28, 1:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Cost is a $5 admission fee, which includes the cost of skate rentals. Visit metroparks.org/IceRink to find the complete regular season schedule.
