I can understand the need for the media to find the most "out there" folks who are preppers, as, we know, the bottom line is about selling papers. I do wish, however, they would look just a little beyond some of the fringes, to the majority of sane, rational, thinking for themselves people who are also "preppers" and perhaps present a ittle more balanced viewpoint. The bottom line : there is NOTHING stupid about preparing for some kind if emergency, by putting away extra food, water, medical supplies. It's called "Taking responsibility for oneself".....Whether the emergecy be another Katrina, or a blizzard that takes out much of an electrical grid, or the loss of income....provisions will be very helpful. Waiting for someone else to "take care of you"...like, heaven forbid, the government is foolish. As for me and mine---we will hunker down, eat our stored food, drink our stored water, stay warm next to the fireplace, and not subject ourselves to standing in long lines for bottled water.

My point? There is wisdom in preparing for rough, unexpected, or even dangerous times.
